Potty Training Success

Over the last 4.5 years, we have attempted many times to potty train our youngest, Dalia, with no success.

Yesterday morning I was getting Dalia dressed for the day and refused to put a diaper on her (I wanted her to CHOOSE to wear panties). She threw a fit of course. After whining, crying, and bargaining she realized I wasn't going to budge. She didn't want to wander around with a bare bottom under her dress, so she picked a pair of Care Bear panties.

Every time she used the toilet I gave her a potty treat of her choice (Fruit-by-the-foot, Toy Story fruit snacks, or a chunk off of our homemade gingerbread house). I also made a deal with her that if she could keep her panties clean for the whole day, I would give her a bowl of ice cream before bed. I am proud to announce that she had no accidents yesterday, and used the toilet 4 times. She chose to eat Neapolitan before bed.

Unsure whether or not she would be able to keep from wetting her bed, I asked her if she wanted to wear a diaper to bed. Her response: "No, diapers are ugly; panties are pretty." She got up this morning and informed me that she needed to use the toilet again. Clean panties and bed. Hooray!!! Day two of the potty training is off to a roaring success!
